Daimler expects higher than forecasted profits
Sat, 11 Feb 2012 13:27:32 +0400
Daimler has said its profit in 2012 is set to exceed analysts' forecasts, propelled by record demand for Mercedes-Benz brand cars, Bloomberg has reported. "The outlook is above expectations," lifted by Mercedes sales and stable prices, said Daniel Schwarz, a Commerzbank analyst in Frankfurt. Mercedes plans to introduce 10 new models by 2015, including compacts and the CLS Shooting Brake, a wagon-like variant of the four-door coupe. Analysts had predicted a profit drop this year because of costs to bring the cars to market. [AMEInfo.com]

Nissan Q3 up with record sales, improves market share
Thu, 09 Feb 2012 10:04:24 +0400
Nissan Motor Co is set to be Japan's most profitable of the three big automakers in 2012, after record car sales last year and improved market share in every major region pushed up quarterly operating profit, Reuters has reported. Nissan kept its net profit forecast at ¥290bn ($3.74bn) for the year to end-March, ahead of Honda Motor's forecast for ¥215bn ($2.79bn) and Toyota Motor's ¥200bn ($2.596bn). Despite launching few new models, Nissan increased its global auto sales by 14% last year to 4.67 million vehicles. Also, among Japan's three leading automakers, Nissan was the fastest to recover from both the earthquake last March and flooding in Thailand that ruptured supply chains, swiftly sourcing parts from its global network.
